I love how my dining choices are made easy thanks to fellow bloggers.
So what's the big deal about Smashburger? It's another American chain adding few locations in Canada. Talk about inexpensive quality dining. Here is the Calgary Smashburger Menu.
IMHO it surpasses Loungeburger in quality. It's more fast food style, but you can sit down in the respect that they will bring you your food to your table with real cutlery. Order at the counter, they give you a plastic number stand. The number stands are not that visible, as we watched the staff wander around like Magellan in search of a home for this poor burger (losing heat). My friend was not impressed because it took longer for her order to arrive (since we ordered at the same time).

I ended up getting the regular smash BBQ bacon and cheeseburger with haystack onions and sweet potato smashfries. What an excellent decision.
Very flavourful, juicy, love the haystack onions in it and the bbq sauce. I'm pretty particular when it comes to sweet potato/yam fries, the only place where I have had the best SP fries is Dadeo in Edmonton. Since then I haven't found any decent sp or yam fries. Smashburger delivers crispy delicious sweet potato fries (not as good as Dadeo but still good). I like the rosemary, olive oil coating. I think it makes it better.
The bun was yellow? Not sure if it's butter or what it is, but the bun was flipping awesome too.
My friend had the healthier option Avocado Chicken club (grilled) with regular fries. They give you the option of grilled or crispy. I tried a bite and I could probably eat the entire chicken on its own.

Build your own burger. Fried egg,cheese, bacon, guacamole.
I tried their 'tea bar', remember to add ice. Very lightly sweetened or plantation iced tea.

So apparently we could not get enough.... Both of us wanted to take home some goodies for late night snacking.
Strawberry milkshake and Haystack onions. The milkshake was delicious, I'd probably want to try the malt next time. The Haystack onions were good, but I did not like the sauce that accompanied it. Some kind of horseradish.
My friend got the Cobb salad with grilled chicken and a side of deep fried pickles.
